Under the Sea

Aloha!
Ok no I am not in Hawaii, wishful thinking :) But couldn't you just see this sweet mermaid hanging out in the hawaiian oceans ;) Actually she reminds me more of the mermaid that used to be in the submarine ride at Disneyland, those were the days!
Anyways this is my first attempt at doing two tone hair. It was so much fun! I have seen Alyce over at Kit and Clowder color up two tone hair many times so I knew I had to try it one of these days. I thought a mermaid was just the right image for trying out this technique!
Alyce is having a challenge over at the Kit and Clowder website with two tone and fun hair colors for the month of August. I decide to enter this little mermaid card into this challenge and this weeks Mojo Monday challenge as well. So hope you will join me :) Have a great evening and enjoy the last couple weeks of summer! Mahalo!

Small Joann's Haul

Hi,
I decided to do a quick haul today, haven't really done one on here yet so why not? Sounded fun!
My sweet daughter went to work with my hubby today for a kids day. So i decided to take a quick trip to Joann's on the way back home from dropping her off at my husbands work. How convenient that it's on the way home lol I just had to pull in, I mean it would be a waste not too right? I was good though I only bought a few things and they were all on sale. Honestly I don't go there that much. I usually buy all my stuff online or go to this cute little stamping store here in town. The smaller shops always have more that I want and get all the latest and greatest stuff.
Here are a few pics of my little haul. I saw the flag punch on Pinterest this morning so I had to track it down and it just happen to be at Joann's, it was kind of my prime motivation for going there this morning. Sorry if I am behind the times but where has this punch been? i love it and I have never seen it before. I am anxious to use it, hopefully it will be making an appearance on an upcoming card.  The other items are just some sentiment stamps that I grabbed. I realized the other day that I don't buy sentiments very often and I probably should incorporate them more in my cards. Adds a little pizazz! I guess I just always go for the fun images first and skip out on the wordy stuff.
The other stamp set is a banner set I liked since I was on a banner kick today, thought I would just throw that in the mix, why not? It's a banner kind of day!
The last thing I got was my stamping storage clam shells that I love. I buy them when Joanns has them on sale. I think they turn out to be around 3 dollars a piece or close to it. They are awesome for storing all your clear and cling mount stamps. I have a youtube video that I did a few months back where i show how I use them. I need to post some pics soon since my video is a little dorky lol Anyways I put all the clam shells in a big binder and put them on the shelf. So handy! And it looks cute too, very important ;)
Hope you are enjoying your day. My hubby's birthday was yesterday so tonight he is having a guy's board game night at our house, so you see why my Joann's haul is justified lol Have a great rest of the day :)

Tiddly Inks Design Team

Hi All,
Hope you are still enjoying summer! My family and I are trying to savor summer as much as possible before our daughter heads back to school in a few weeks.  We are starting to get emails with dates of back to school stuff and I am really not ready.  The summer really does fly by!
Anyways I am very excited to be posting today! Tiddly Inks is choosing some new design team members so I have decided to give it a go. Wow there are a lot of great entries so it's going to be a tough choice for them, but it's so much fun to see everyone's creations.
I had a lot of fun coloring this sweet little Wryn. I really wanted to do something in purple so I had a good time choosing the colors.  I might be on a purple kick!
Hope you will join me in entering a card at the TiddlyInks blog. A thank you to the team for letting me enter. Have a good rest of the day!     http://tiddlyinks.blogspot.com
Hugs,
Holly

Metal die-cut storage

Hello,
So I wanted to share my die cut storage system that has seemed to work pretty well for me. For quite awhile I was using one of those canvas CD storage boxes. While it worked pretty well for storage, I couldn't see any of the dies i had without pulling out each CD sleeve. I then came upon this great video, which I will post below, that gave me a great starting point for changing my system around. You will see in her video she used magnetic sheets and got them at the dollar store. I actually couldn't find any at the dollar store to save my life and they were quite expensive at the craft store. So I decided on magnetic strips instead and I think they work quite well. I believe they are bit stronger as well.
Another thing that has been so nice about this system is that I can compare circles or squares or whatever shape I might be working on so easily. I can just flip through and pull them out or just see what I have and what I need-need not want lol Oh and they fit so nicely in binders and sleeves, it's an OCD girl's dream ;) And I can't forget they are all organized in categories!
Hope I have helped someone out there :) Let me know if you have any questions.

Supplies:
mini better binders in teal- Staples
mini better binder sleeves- Staples
chip board-some kind of heavy card stock would work too
magnetic tape with adhesive back- I used the 1 inch wide tape from Michaels
Label maker-white tape
